JEDDAH: Jeddah Mayoralty has said that the number of dengue fever cases registered through the end of the 14th week of the current year has reached 238, a 52-percent drop compared to the same period last year, when 491 cases were reported. The drop came despite the heavy rainfall that lashed the governorate six times this year, officials noted. Mayoralty officials said the decline reflects efforts exerted by it and other relevant authorities, particularly the programs to combat mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever by spraying homes and combating all stages of mosquito growth.
