TAIF: The sixth Saudi Technical Conference and Exhibition (STCEX) opens April 24 under the patronage of Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Aviation. Held by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), the event will look into the gap between the TVTC and the needs of the labor market, economies of human resources development, ensuring quality in technical and vocational training programs and employment skills at technical and vocational training institutes. The conference will hold discussions on strategies for providing training facilities to technical and vocational training institutes. TVTC Governor Ali Al-Ghufais said the event would serve to improve the corporation's programs and bring them in line with the latest global developments in the field to “help achieve the development goals of this country”. “The corporation has succeeded in bringing into effect the recommendations produced by previous technical conferences and exhibitions,” he said. “It has managed to build strategic partnerships with international educational and training institutes and the private sector in the management and running of technical and vocational faculties and institutes.” He added that the TVTC has also “created flexibility in regulations to recruit highly skilled staff from abroad and Saudis with the industrial experience”. The conference takes place from April 24 to 26 in Riyadh.
