TAIF: There has been a successful start to the seventh Taif Flower Festival at King Faisal International Garden last Saturday with thousands of visitors. Saud Al-Thubaiti, Executive Director of the festival, estimated the number of visitors at 4,000 daily, or 28,000 visitors in the first week. The festival will continue until April 16. Al-Thubaiti said a number of exhibitions and activities are taking place at the festival, like folk shows, a market, folk games, theater performances, scientific lectures, symposiums, photo gallery, plastic art exhibition and fireworks shows. He said the organizers are giving daily prizes to visitors. Fayez Al-Talhi, the well-known owner of Taif flower farms and factories, who has a section at the festival, said the production of one bottle of flower oil costs SR1,400 and is sold for between SR1,700 to SR2,000. Taif flower oil, when mixed with honey, cleanses the stomach, he said. It is also useful for treating headaches and allergies “and gives a nice taste to drinking water and tea”. It is also good for the skin and many women use it for that, he added.
