NAJRAN/DAMMAM: Prince Mish'al Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Najran Region, said the patronage of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for the Al-Janadriya National Festival for Heritage and Culture reflects the great concern and attention heritage and culture receive from the King, as the festival has become a world-class show, attracting all citizens of the Kingdom, the GCC countries and guests from many other countries. The festival kicks off Wednesday. “Every year the festival witnesses many developments and accomplishments that have made all look forward to its inauguration and visiting it to get acquainted with the numerous aspects of heritage, folk dances, handicrafts and the different cultural aspects,” he said. Among the important aspects of the event is the participation of many European and Asian countries as guests of honor, said Prince Mish'al, who added that work is going on to build the heritage village for Najran Region on the festival's premises. The project is expected to be completed next year. The Emir said it would be a big addition to the festival. The village will fully reflect Najran's deep-rooted history and depict the region's heritage and unique architectural style in the form of traditional Najrani buildings, the handicrafts market, traditional foods, halls for displaying traditional acquisitions and arts, photographs of archeological sites and antiquities, and an area showing the diverse development in the area, Prince Mish'al said. Meanwhile, Prince Juluwi Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Musa'ed, Deputy Emir of the Eastern Province, visited the Al-Sharqiah House in Al-Janadriya. “The house depicts the heritage and ancient civilization of the Eastern Province to the visitors of Al-Janadriya,” he said. “It also reflects the advancement the Eastern Province is witnessing today. Al-Sharqiah House simulates many of the archeological sites like Al-Qaissariah Palace, Jawatha Mosque and Al-Bai'ah House (Bait Al-Bai'ah) where the late King Abdul Aziz was given the pledge of allegiance.”
