Umar, Badaruddin and Imran sparkle in ALJ Cup

JEDDAH: Imran Khan of Reel & Rom hit 108 against ACC, Badaruddin hit an unbeaten 91 against Reel & Rom while Deccan Knights' scoring machine Muhammad Umar Suwadi made a match-winning 60 not out against the Sigma Paint in the 9th week matches of JCA Division-II, which is sponsored by Abdul Latif Jameel Company (ALJ) and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
After the league matches, Deccan Knights, Desert Warriors, Butt Sports, KAIA, Young Athletes, ACC, Sigma Paints and Saliheen Cricket Club qualified for the quarterfinals.
Sigma Paints won the toss and elected to bat first against Deccan Knights Cricket Club. It tallied 145-9 in the allotted 18 overs through Tabassum Junior 24, Sadaam 22, Arbab 21 Tabassum Senior 10, Anees 9 and Shahed 8. Sohail 2-22, Syed Mohammad Afroz 2-34, Ayaz 2-15, Inayath 2-46 and Muhammad Umar Suwadi 1-11 shone with the ball for DKCC.
In reply, the Deccan Knights reached 146-3 in 13.3 overs. DKCC opening batsman Muhammad Umar Suwadi remained unbeaten on 60. He hit 7 boundaries and 2 sixes in his strokefull innings.
Others who impressed with the bat were Sohail 20 not out, Syed Mohammad Afroz 18 and Syed Anwar Shah 13. Tabassum Senior 1-32, Tabassum Junior 1-23 and Saqib 1-37 were the DKCC wicket-takers.
Reel & Rom, batting first, scored 192-4 in the allotted 18 overs against ACC. Regular opener Wajid could make only 23 while his partner Zubair was unlucky to be out for just 6 runs. But No.3 batsman Imran Khan stood firm at the crease and hit 108 runs in 61 balls with 14 boundaries and 3 sixes. Other batsman who contributed runs was Nisar 21. Zaheer 1-41, Abid 1-22 and Tabrez 1-36 were the successful bowlers of ACC.
In reply, ACC reached 196-1 in 15 overs. Badaruddin remained unbeaten on 91. His knock was decorated with 13 fours and 2 towering sixes. A consistant Abid made a heroic 70 runs. Wajid took 1-11 for Reel & Rom.
Batting first. Butt Sports scored 222-3 in the allotted 18 overs against BTC. Tariq Siddiqui 27, Junaid Butt 59, Samir 45, Omar 41 not out and Abdul Rehman 12 not out were the run-getters. Abdul Rehman took 2-25, Irfan 1-15 and Asim 1-21.
In reply, BTC managed only 156-6 in 11 overs and conceded the match. For BTC, opener Shafi made 57, Obaid 63 and Abdul Rehman 27. Tariq took 3 wickets, Bakhtiyar had 2 for Butt Sports.
