PARIS: The French Foreign Ministry has criticized the statements of the Iranian government against the Kingdom, saying it contravenes international diplomatic principles and norms. Bernard Valero, spokesman of the French Foreign Ministry, also stressed that France condemns Iranian interference in the affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. In a statement to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Valero said France rejects all Iranian statements containing threats of violence, hatred and false accusations. This is why, the spokesman said, Iran is contravening international law and the principles of international relations. He said France wants the Arabian Gulf region free of any foreign interference. Paris, he said, appreciates the stance of the GCC countries to ensure peace, security and stability for their people. He stressed that France rejects Iran's attempts to convert the region into an arena for game-playing and wrangling.
