I s the Telugu Desam party heading towards a major upheaval? If the angry mood of senior TDP leader from Telangana T. Devender Goud is any indication, the answer seems to be yes. According to the reliable sources Goud has made up his mind to part ways with the Telugu Desam party on Telangana issue and will soon take a decision after consulting with his followers and supporters. The first meeting of Telangana committee of the TDP Wednesday in Vizianagarm has seen Goud completely isolated and pushed in to corner. The details of the closed door meeting, which have emerged from different sources suggest that Goud was the only of the five members of the committee to openly advocate the demand for Telangana state. While three members from coastal Andrha and Rayala Seema region strongly opposed him, the only other member from Telangana Nagam Janardhan Reddy also failed to support Goud. The meeting saw a bitter and heated exchange between Goud on one side and K. Yerran Naidu and Y. Ramakrishnudu on the other in the presence of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu. Before the meeting dispersed Goud told the party leaders that if the party does not take a decision in favor of Telangana then it should wait for some historic development. In this some saw a hidden threat of quitting the party. In an ominous sign, Goud has become inaccessible since the meeting and sources said that he was meeting the other pro Telangana leaders in the party. “Goud was quite open and assertive when he asked Chandrababu to take a decision in favor of Telangana. Otherwise he warned that party will suffered badly”, well places sources said. This evoked a strong reaction from Yerran Naidu, the parliamentary party leader of TDP and Y. Ramakrishnudu both of whom belong to coastal Andhra. “dividing the state is not so easy”, one of them told Goud leading to heated arguments and Naidu had to intervene to cool down both the sides. K E Krishnamurthy who comes Kurnool, raised the issue of Rayala Seema and said that formation of Telangana will entail in to demand for Rayala Seema state. N Janardhan Reddy, who hails from Telangana but has been making noises against Telangana state, said that the decision should be taken keeping in view the larger interest of the party all over the state. Naidu on his party tried to draw the attention of Goud to the fact that while telangana had only 119 assembly seats, coastal Andhra and Rayala Seema had 175 assembly seats. “For the sake of seats in Telangana we can not forego the seats in other regions”, Naidu tried to convince Goud according to the sources. In a bid to put the Telangana issue on the backburner, Naidu only reiterated his old position that he was not against Telangana but a decision on party's stand will be taken at an appropriate time. Goud was also angered by what he felt to be the non serious approach of the party leadership towards the meeting on Telangana. While the committee was set up exclusively to decide party's stand on Telangana issue, the first meeting saw Naidu raising several other issue and asking party leaders to agitate on problems like the liquor shops and shortage of seeds and fertilizers. Goud also got the message that the panel will not be able to discharge its duty of gathering the opinion of the people on Telangana issue because no guidelines were formulated for the committee. __
