ABHA: Several residents here Sunday expressed their delight over the Royal Order extending the service of Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz as the Emir of Asir Province for another four years. They expressed their happiness as Prince Faisal continues his efforts to execute vital projects that are delayed in some regions and solve the water-shortage problem. Sheikh Fayez Al-Haid, a resident, said the Al-Namass area is suffering from a water shortage, lacks dams and the water tankers' water prices are high. He called for speeding up the delayed project to build Wadi Tarj Dam, the largest dam for water storage, and the project to deliver desalinated water to the Asir Province's northern regions. Hasan Bin Makhafa, a resident, said Al-Khamees Tunnel needs to be completed soon. “We are frustrated waiting for it to be completed,” he said, calling for not giving the contractor additional periods of time to work on the project. Another resident, Dhafer Bin Abdullah Aal Halbad, noted that Asir is a mountainous region with many valleys and said some valleys could be used as dam sites, which would end the water shortage. Abdullah Gurman Al-Shehri said it was necessary to complete the road network to develop and improve commercial movements in the region. Another resident, Saad Al-Ahmari, said he hoped the support and efforts to boost tourism in the area will continue. Other residents called for expanding universities, establishing charitable societies and improving health care services.
