MADINA: Umm Muhammad, the Saudi woman who was found innocent of maid abuse by a Madina court, has slammed the media for defaming her and her family's reputation. She also criticized the attitude of the public toward her, her daughters and son because of what she described as a “wrongful and malicious lawsuit”. Umm Muhammad is a mother of six - five girls and a boy. Her daughters are excellent university students, and she is known to be committed to prayer, fasting, reading of the Qur'an and having compassion for the poor. “Although I am happy that I was found innocent I feel sad for my reputation. The media defamed me and some [media] persons accused me of torturing a helpless, poor housemaid. I also feel sad for the period I had to spend behind bars at my age.” Umm Muhammad spent about five months in prison before she was released. She thanked “all the people who stood by my side and helped me endure imprisonment and ensure my innocence”.
