JEDDAH: Authorities in Jeddah are in hot pursuit of a 22-year-old man accused of defrauding his fiancée of SR90,000. The fiancée, a teacher, 38, gave him the money for wedding preparations and debts, after which he turned off his mobile and she could not reach him. After days had passed, she realized she had been deceived. “At the beginning I thought something bad had happened to him,” she said. Police have received information on the fraudster's location and he will be arrested soon, according to Brig. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah Police. The man had come to the woman's family house and formally asked for her hand in marriage. He later told her he really wanted to get married but had to pay his debts first. Trusting him, the woman was willing to pay his debts and support him financially, telling him financial obstacles should not prevent them from building a family. She had told him to pick up the SR90, 000, after which he disappeared.
