SYDNEY: The New South Wales Waratahs took advantage of a disputed penalty try in the first half to beat the Waikato Chiefs 23-16 in Super 15 rugby Friday. South African referee Jaco Peyper first sin-binned Chiefs prop Nathan White, then awarded a penalty try to the Waratahs after a long series of scrums near the Chiefs line around the 26th minute. In Invercargill, New Zealand, hooker Jason Rutledge scored two tries in two minutes in the first half as the Otago Highlanders beat the ACT Brumbies 26-20. Rutledge scored in the 16th and 18th minutes.
