DHULUM: There was no voting on tribal lines in the last municipal elections, according to Abdulrahman Muhammad Al-Dahmash, Chairman of the General Committee for the Election of Municipal Council Members. He called on voters to elect competent people who will benefit the municipalities and improve the quality of service provision. He also called on the media to play a positive role in reporting on the election process and educating people about the importance of participating. He said at a recent press conference that the election process begins on April 23 with voter registration. A new amendment now forces voters to vote for one candidate from their electoral district. Al-Dahmash said municipal councils have been successful in carrying out their tasks. They have taken significant decisions in terms of municipal services and monitoring the performance and decisions of municipalities. In all regions they have been successful in monitoring and conducting reports; and participated efficiently in planning, setting programs and ensuring projects were carried out. They contributed to improving municipal services in general, he added.
