DAMMAM: The Civil Defense in the Eastern Province said Sunday amusement park rides that do not meet regulatory specifications will cost the park's owner a fine of up to SR30,000. Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, Director General of the department in the region, said the whole park will be closed if the violation is repeated. Al-Ghamdi, who was inspecting safety measures at 32 amusement parks in the Eastern Province, said it is the task of the department to check attractions before holidays, noting that the Mayor's Office, the electricity companies, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry helps to monitor these establishments. He added that it is the responsibility of the private establishment to also check and monitor their safety measures and facilities. Parents must also supervise their children when using the rides, he said. Al-Ghamdi called on parents to report any observations related to safety measures and facilities at public places, particularly amusement parks.
