MADINA: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has suspended the salaries of 38 imams and muezzins in the Madina region for offenses including tasking other people with their duties. Muhammad Al-Khatri, head of the ministry's office in Madina, said the 38 were being investigated and that action was taken after failures in their duties had been observed as well as “neglect” at the mosques in which they work, along with delegating their functions to other people. The salaries of the imams in question range between SR2,070 and SR3,970, while the muezzins are paid between SR1,200 and SR1,500.
