QUNFUDHA: A light earth tremor of 2.1 on the Richter scale was felt in the north east of Al-Qunfudha, 350 km southwest of Jeddah, Sunday. Hani Zahran, head of the National Earthquakes and Volcanoes Center, denied the tremor was due to an earthquake or other natural activity, however, saying that it was due to “human activity in the region”. Residents in the area around the town of Sabt Al-Jara, 60 kilometers to the east of Al-Qunfudha, said they felt furniture moved and doors and windows rattle for several seconds.
