Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 03 - 2011

JEDDAH: In line with Rezidor Hotel Group Responsible Business program, which is the core of the company's social, cultural and environmental concern as well as creating positive impact on humanitarian deeds, the Rezidor Hotel Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in Earth Hour – a lights out environmental initiatives supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Saturday from 20:30 P.M. until 21.30 P.M.
All guests at the Radisson Blu Hotels in Riyadh, Jeddah, Yanbu, Madinah and Park Inn by Radisson in Al-Khobar were invited to a cocktail reception during the Earth Hour. Furthermore, all employees participated at home and made this change a part of their everyday life through activities such as using energy-saving life bulbs, turning appliances off rather than simply to standby, unplugging charges when not in use, etc.
"Earth Hour is an excellent opportunity to highlight and to further support our company- wide Responsible Business program", said Mohamed Benamar, District Director for KSA and General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Riyadh.
Benamar added that "our company is truly committed to Responsible Business having a long history of innovative hospitality with Yes I Can! service philosophy. Our main areas for focus on Responsible Business are taking responsibility for health safety and well being of our employees and guests, respecting and promoting social and ethical issues in the company, as well as in the community and lastly, reducing negative impact on the environment."
"We are proud to have participated in Earth Hour for the third year in a row, which comes this year in our celebration of (receiving) the Green Key certificate as the first chain hotel company in Saudi Arabia (to get the award) that reflects our commitment to our Responsible Business program," said Shakeel Alhamid, general manager of Radisson Blu Royal Suite Hotel, Jeddah.
