RIYADH: King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and President of the Higher Education Council, Saturday approved a bundle of decisions taken by the Higher Education Council at its 63rd session. Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education, said the King has given the go ahead for the setting up of the Studies and Consultation Service Center at Al-Majmma University; Scientific Research Centers at the faculties of Science, Medicine and Engineering at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh; two research centers at the faculties of Law and Political Science at King Saud University in Riyadh, one for legal consultations and the other for criminal studies; and two centers at Taiba University in Madina for Dentistry Research and Creativity and Excellence. Al-Anqari said the decisions approved by the King also included the creation of two deanships for IT and e-education at Shagra University; a third deanship for e-education at Al-Majmma University and the conversion of the Academic Accreditation and Evaluation department into a deanship for Development and Quality. He said King Abdullah also approved the appointment of a number of teaching staff at some universities in the capacity of deputy presidents, including Dr. Faleh Bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiman, Deputy for King Fahd Universities for Petroleum and Minerals for the Development of Technology and Industrial Relations; Dr. Muhammad Bin Sultan Al-Assiri, Deputy for Najran University for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and Dr. Talal Bin Muslat Al-Shareef, Deputy for Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman. The King also approved a draft memorandum of understanding between the Islamic University in Madina and Al-Zaitouna University in Tunisia.
