JEDDAH: The Ministry of Trade and Industry has said it is working with various government authorities to detect any Japanese products arriving in the Kingdom via other countries and check them for exposure to radiation. The ministry has also been in contact with countries importing consumer products from Japan which might be sent on to the Kingdom, to advise them of the need to check they are free from radioactive substances and test all products arriving from Japan. Chambers of Commerce and Industry in all regions have also been advised by the ministry to coordinate with importers and carry out examinations while other authorities such as Saudi Customs and the Saudi Standards and Specifications Commission have been told to introduce precautionary measures.
