(Courtesy photo)RIYADH: One of the highlights of the Saudi Construction Show that opened in Riyadh, Monday was the celebration of a 30-year partnership between Saudi-based Zahid Tractor and its Swedish partner Volvo Trucks Corporation. Sheikh Fahd Y. Zahid, Executive Vice President of Zahid Tractor, and Lars-Erik Forsbergh, President, Volvo Trucks North Africa and Middle East, jointly cut a one-meter by one-and-half meter cake to mark 30 years of fruitful partnership in offering transport solutions to the Kingdom's construction market. The occasion also saw the unveiling of six Volvo trucks assembled at a Jeddah plant, located at the Industrial City in Kilo 14. The plant boasts an impressive 75 percent Saudization rate across all levels of the business including assembly line workers, mechanics and senior management. The partnership between Saudi-based Zahid Tractor and Swedish transport solutions company Volvo Trucks Corporation started in late 1980. Amr Khashoggi, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Zahid Group, said: I'm proud to say that we have succeeded in developing a strong international partnership to create a world class Saudi truck assembly business.”
