(SPA) RIYADH: King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Tuesday asked the nation to refrain from using titles of affection which have become popular in the media and among the public, such as the “King of Humane Compassion” and the “Sovereign of Hearts”. “I would ask that you spare me such titles,” King Abdullah said. “The Sovereign King is Allah, and we are all the worshippers of Allah the Most Exalted. I therefore plead that I be spared such titles,” he said. The Monarch was speaking at a reception at the Royal Court at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh where he welcomed a number of princes, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Aal Al-Sheikh and other senior scholars, and Abdul Rahman Al-Attiyah, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as other dignitaries. The Grand Mufti spoke to laud the Royal Decrees recently issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and praised their “positive impact on the individual and the whole Saudi community”. “It constitutes a message to Muslims and the whole world over that this land is the cradle of Islam and will continue to be so,” the Grand Mufti said. “Reform in this country emanates from its religion, motherland and the scholars to whom you restored their prestige.”
