serving prisoner in Madina ended this week when he was released after spending 27 long years behind bars. Sa'eed Farhan, now 60, spent many a sleepless night in the jail after court sentenced him for murdering his stepbrother in a fit of anger. Farhan's stepmother, through a power of attorney given to her sons, pardoned him, Al-Hayat reported. Farhan's case hogged the media limelight and Madina's Committee of Prisoners Care launched efforts to convince his family members to pardon him, especially when he developed several diseases. Sajdi Sa'eed, Farhan's eldest son said his 20 uncles and stepmothers took good care of the incarcerated man's children. Sajdi said before his father was released, he had to quit his job and stay with him in a hospital after Farhan suffered a stroke. __
