Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) has completed all preparations for the summer season. Through its scheduled operation plans SAPTCO aims at transporting nearly 2 million passengers this summer to numerous tourist attraction areas within the Kingdom and abroad, Al-Riyadh Arabic daily said. Engineer Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Muqbil, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation for Roads and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SAPTCO, said 1,400 extra trips will be operated to provide 56,000 additional seats to meet the demand during this season. Al-Muqbil confirmed the continued presence of the company in the domestic tourism programs in summer due its support and encouragement for domestic tourism. He said the company would operate the latest buses on its service routes. Also, it has kept ready well-equipped maintenance workshops on service routes besides operating the main workshops at SAPTCO stations and the mobile workshops. The company has increased the number of trips to Makkah, Madina, Jeddah, Dammam, Abha, Taif, Al-Baha and Tabuk, he said. Al-Muqbil said SAPTCO is keen to register a strong presence in international transport market due to its long expertise in this field. He said the stations of the company would operate round the clock during summer season to face the increasing demand for its different trips. This applies to its local and international agents in the Kingdom and abroad. __
