MANILA: The Barangay Ginebra Kings roared to their third straight win, virtually eliminating the San Miguel Beermen, 106-94, Sunday night in the PBA Commissioner's Cup. Nate Brumfield thundered for 33 points while Mark Caguioa chipped in 17 as the Kings tied the idle Alaska Aces at third to fourth spot in the rankings, both with a 4-2 win-loss card. The Beermen continued their downhill slide, falling to the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 slate and facing the grim prospects of an early exit and its worst appearance in a PBA conference for years. Under the Commissioner's Cup short format, only the top six teams advance into the playoffs while the bottom four get the boot after the elimination. In the first match of the Sunday double-header at the Araneta Coliseum, Alpha Bangura exploded with a conference-high 41 points on top of 11 rebounds to lead the Air21 Express to a 94-92 win against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
