DAMMAM: Professor K. M. Bahauddin, aged 82, former vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, and former Principal NIT Calicut, Kerala state, died in India Sunday. Bahauddin was a famous academician and writer. He was born and brought up in Paravur, Thekkumbhagom, Quilon District. He wrote a number of books on various subjects, such as Kerala Muslims, History of the Struggle (English), and The Roots of the Iraq Invasion. He was a scholar of international affairs in politics and religion, and was the principal of NIT Calicut at the time of the notorious Rajan case. Bahauddin was an executive member of the International Interfaith Dialogue India formed in Kerala state in 2009 for positive interactions between the followers of various religions to establish harmony and brotherhood in society. He was also an active member of the Forum for Intellectual Dialogues, formed in Kochi in 2009 to establish organizational harmony and cooperation among various Muslim organizations. He was the brother-in-law of the late legendary scholar,Vakkom Abdul Qader Moulawi. Bahauddin is survived by his children: Asif, Mon-Regional director, IBM; Lulu, Professor at Bristol University, UK; Fouzia, Gynecology Professor at the Medical College, Trivandrum and Shabeen, an engineer living in the United States.
