MANILA: In a bruising battle between two top playoff contenders, the Talk N Text Tropang Texters proved to have the steadier nerves as they beat the Alaska Aces in overtime, 85-80, Saturday night in a PBA Commissioner's Cup road game played at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro City. With their fifth straight win in six games, the Texters held on to solo second place in the rankings behind the league-leading and still undefeated Smart Gilas Nationals (5-0). The loss snapped Alaska's two-game winning streak as the Aces dropped to solo third with a 4-2 win-loss card. Jimmy Alapag scored a three-pointer with 10.3 seconds left in OT to pad TNT's lead to five points, 83-78, that virtually sealed the win for the Texters. Alapag finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. The match ended at 78-all in regulation with Alaska import LD Williams nailing the tying basket.
