ABHA: The Ministry of Education is investigating a complaint against the regional head of the Education Administration and the Saudi Primary School in Al-Qunfudha concerning a pupil who suffered a fall at the premises at the end of classes. The complaint was brought by a parent who said his son was forced by the school to sign an official report stating that he was fully responsible for the incident and the resultant harm to a fellow pupil. Ali Qadhi told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the school was “fully aware” that his son had nothing to do with the incident, which he described as an “attack on the pupil”. “They get on very well,” he said of this son and the victim of the incident. “That's why I made a complaint to the Education Administration to investigate the school management, but no decision has been reached yet.” He said he also lodged a complaint with the Minister of Education. “I explained in the complaint that my son had been falsely accused by the school and that the accusation he had attacked his classmate was fabricated. Even the father of the boy himself has denied it. I will proceed with my complaint until justice is done,” he said. The school principal, however, said that Qadhi's son admitted committing the act in front of a number of teachers and pupils. “He admitted he caused the boy to fall because of crowding when pupils were leaving the school,” said Principal Ahmad Bawahab. “The school has conducted itself properly. The father's claims are rejected, and we will deal with the complaint in accordance with regulations to protect the rights of all parties.” The head of Education in Al-Qunfudha, Muhammad Al-Zahami, also maintained that the father's accusations were “not true”. “What he claims is in contradiction to the report by the school principal,” Al-Zahami said. “The complaint has been handled properly by a team of school advisors and the necessary measures have been taken.”
