RIYADH: A national project to identify gifted students will be launched by the King Abdul Aziz and His Companions Foundation for the Gifted, according to the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Assessment. The project is part of the Kingdom's efforts to provide an environment that encourages creativity and talent, and substantially improve methods to identify the talented and innovators, Dr. Khaled Bin Abdullah Al-Sabti, chairman of the project's higher committee said. More than 25,000 students have been nominated for the project, he said. This effort is in collaboration with all relevant authorities that seek to help the country achieve the leadership's vision of building a creative, knowledge-based society, he added. The project's goal is to be the main portal for talented pupils who want to be nominated for different programs introduced to gifted students, Dr. Al-Sabti said. Advanced methods based on the best educational experiences will be used to identify the students and the project will include building a database of all gifted students in the Kingdom, he said. In its first year, the project will include 16 regional education administrations and pupils of third primary grade to the third secondary grade, he said.
