(SPA photo) DAMMAM: The Al-Zamil 64 Ship has been launched at a ceremony in Dammam by Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of the Eastern Province. Also present at the ceremony were Dr. Jubara Al-Suraisiri, Minister of Transport; Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwijiri, General President of the Seaports Authority; and Abdul Aziz Naeem Al-Naeem, Director of King Abdul Aziz Seaport in Dammam. Earlier Prince Muhammad was briefed on projects at Dammam Seaport during his tour of different sections of Al-Zamil Company for Marine Services, including the section involved in building ships. Following this, he inaugurated Al-Zamil Ship 64. He pressed the ship's whistle marking its entry into maritime service. In a statement on the occasion he said: “The building of support ships by Al-Zamil Marine Company at Dammam Dry Dock has pleased all of us. This is conclusive evidence of the advanced standard of the shipping industry. “It also marks a new era in the history of heavy industry in the Kingdom.” He also stressed the substantial role being played by Al-Zamil in the development of the industry in the Kingdom especially in the area of training. This would have a positive economic impact on the Kingdom and the region, he said. Prince Muhammad also hoisted the Saudi flag over three tugmasters built by Al-Zamil. Minister Suraisiri said the Kingdom is witnessing quantitative and qualitative development in the light and heavy industries during the prosperous era of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He also lauded the role of the private sector in the development of the industry in the Kingdom. “What we see today provides tangible evidence of the cooperation between the government and private sector. This shows that Saudi citizens are making the most of opportunities provided by the government.” He said the industry has saved the government billions of riyals. He said many international shipping companies have commented on the high standard of the industry in the Kingdom, especially its durable support vessels and tugmasters.
