JEDDAH: Sandstorms over Jeddah have not affected air traffic at King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA), said the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in a statement Tuesday. Khaled Al-Khaibari, spokesman for GACA, said that everything was running smoothly at KAIA, and the dusty wind has not affected flights. All runways were operational since the wind started in the early hours of Tuesday, said Al-Khaibari. He added that a decision to suspend flights normally takes place when visibility is poor. Al-Khaibari pointed out that all KAIA facilities and navigation systems were prepared to deal with such weather conditions.
