JEDDAH: Freight trounced Travel by 8 wickets and Commercial mauled Maersk Lions by 54 runs to grab the sem final slots in the Kanoo Inter-Division Cricket Tournament here. P&IP and Finance are assured of the other two semifinals slots but next week matches will decide the last four line-up.
Freight trounces Travel
Travel raced to 45 for no loss before losing Junaid 22 and Adnan (20) in quick succession. Later Sami (20) with support from the lower order kept the scoreboard ticking before Freight's all-rounder Jayasuriya (4-29), Hameen (2-28) and Mushtaq (1-36) rocked the Travel's boat to reduce it to 124-8 in 15 overs. In reply, though Freight lost an early wicket Hameen (38 not out) and Ranil (20) continued the run flow with the support from Fazal 38 (5 fours) and Donald's unbeaten 12 which enabled Freight reach 126-3 in 10.5 overs for a solid 7 wickets win to qualify for semifinals. Man of the Match: Donald of Freight.
Commercial mauls Maersk
Commercial lost early wickets but bounced back with Nabil 25, Ayub 31 (5 fours) and Asif 38 (4 fours and 1 six) playing good knocks to enable their team tally 154-7 in 15 overs. Maersk Lions bowlers Ghazanfer and Aman claimed two wickets each while Nabil chipped with one.
In response, Maersk Lions had no answer to the accurate Commercial attack. However Nawab 16, Praveen 16 and Kamran 19 batted sensibly before Commercial bowlers Raju (4-37), Sujeeb (3-17), Nabil (2 -13) and Ashfaq (1-27) kept a tight length and line to bundle out Maersk for a paltry 100 in 14.4 overs and reach the semifinals in style.
Man of the Match: Asif of Commercial.
