Cougar tops Ravi-XI

JEDDAH: New entrant Cougar Lubricants cricket team recorded an 11-run win over a fighting Ravi-XI, while Peeran-XI beat Old Boys-XI by 38 runs in the third week matches of JCA Division-I Leaague which is sponsored by the ACE Travels & Tours and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
New entrants Cougar Lubricants, batting first, scored 185-4 against Ravi-XI. Athar Ali, who topscored with 54 runs was unlucky to be run out while stealing a cheeky single against the energetic fielders of Ravi. Others who contributed runs were Ali 36, Chand 33, Ashiq Ali 25 not out, Fahad 13 and Abdul Rehman not out 7. Kashan, Akhlaque and Samer took wicket each for Ravi. In reply the Ravi cricketers made 165-8 in 18 overs. Osman was the highest scorer with 48. Tauheed 39, Sangeen Khan 27 and Abid 10 tried their best in vain. Left-arm spinner Ashique Ali claimed 2 wickets while Fahad, Amir and Ali got one wicket each.
Peeran-XI elected to bat first and made 196-6. Muneer Ahmed who came to bat at No. 6 was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 51. Others who contributed runs were Shabbir 29, Afsar Khan 23, Hanif 18, Hamid Afsar Khan 17 and Tanveer 12 not out. Osman took 3 wickets, Amir 2 and Asif one. In reply the old students were all out for 159. Hamid 34, Osman 28, Asif 17, Ali 16, Mohammad Ali 16 not out and Jehanzeb 14 wee their notable run-getters. Hussain and Shabbir took 3 wickets each while Muneer Ahmed and Afsar Khan got one wicket each.
