JEDDAH: Investors from Saudia Arabia have expressed an interest in purchasing two properties in the northern Croatian village of Kumrovec with the intent to build a seven-star luxurious hotel there, Croatian Times daily reported Friday. The Saudi Arabian investors have recently toured the properties. The Croatian construction company Ingra – who is the chairman of the supervisory board was the former Croatian President, Stjepan Mesic – is considered to be the most responsible for bringing the Arabian investors to Kumrovec. Ingra itself was interested in the properties in 2007, but had given up the idea because of financial problems. An American fund is also interested in the real estate. The authorities are expected to call a tender soon. Kumrovec's claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of the former Yugoslav leader, Josip Broz Tito.
