Faisal, Emir of Makkah, said Saturday King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has provided all resources to execute projects and the ball is in our court now. Prince Khaled was addressing members of the Province Council while chairing its meeting, which discussed the agenda and focused on the General Housing Commission's projects. Prince Khaled ordered faster execution of the projects and insisted that the work must be done in accordance with international standards. The commission's supervisor briefed the Emir and members on locations and areas allocated by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and procedures taken to expedite executing the projects. The Makkah Emir said Saudis should have all public services and facilities no matter where they are. “There's no differentiation between residents of up-market and ‘traditional' districts,” he said. Prince Khaled and members of the council also discussed the Enjaz project, which monitors the accomplishments of service sectors in the last four years regarding projects that are complete, being executed, delayed and halted. The council was also acquainted with the results of a committee formed to study the issue of illegal waste-discharge points along Jeddah beaches and the efforts to close them. The council also discussed a report on the development-centers project, which involves designating and planning lands for creating urban environments with high-quality, vital services and facilities, with an economic base that creates jobs, and directs urban growth in a way that guarantees efficient, appropriate land use. The project also involves encouraging the private sector to increase its contribution in developing medium-sized cities. Meanwhile, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal patronized the signing ceremony held Saturday for partnership agreements with developers of projects in Al-Bawabah, Makkah's western suburbs. The Bawabat Makkah (Makkah Gate) agreements include a project signed with Sumuw Company to set up the first residential district located east of the government authorities complex, on 1.5-million-square-meter area. The other agreements are: a contract with the Sheikh Ibrahim Afandi Group for the first commercial-residential district, with an area of three million square meters, located north of the expressway; a contract with a group of businessmen represented by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Faqih for a charity hospital for treating tumors, located in the northwestern part of the area; and a contract with the Rawafid Charitable Institution to create a cultural center.
