AHSA: The Mayor's Office here has fined a private company SR20,000 and impounded its vehicle after it was spotted by the office's inspectors Sunday disposing of hazardous medical waste at the city's garbage dump. The city also approached the hospital where the waste originated and instructed it to commit to disposal in a proper manner. Two workers were in the vehicle, said Abdullah Al-Arfa, the Mayor's Office Undersecretary for Services. An official from the mayoralty, Engineer Rashed Al-Maslami, said medical waste must be disposed of properly because of the health risk to people and the environment.
