Dubai Summer Surprises set to take off with glitz
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 06 - 2008

Shoppers visiting Deira City Center during the forthcoming Dubai Summer Surprises will have the opportunity to take a walk on the wild side, watch some cool hip-hop choreography, experience the wonder of music and plenty more over the nine-and-a-half weeks of mall activities that mark Dubai's perennial shopping celebrations.
The festivities at the popular mall kick off on Thursday with an act sure to please lovers of urban music. UAE's top dancers will be rocking the crowd with their hip-hop freestyle choreography, playing three sets a day until June 25. Fans wanting to catch their cool moves will have the opportunity to see them repeat their performances on July 24-30.
Full of confidence, balance and impeccable timing, an extremely popular Arab football juggler will be impressing visitors to Deira City Center from June 26-30 with his remarkable juggling and ball control skills.
The theme of dancing follows next with a decidedly comical twist from July1-9. “Dance Heads” uses state-of-the-art technology to superimpose participants' heads onto dancing characters, as they sing along to their favorite pop tunes. Add in a fully animated background, with monitors for viewers to watch, the result is a performance that is as hilarious as it is mesmerizing - one that is certain to be a sure-fire hit with both adults and children alike.
Youngsters wanting to discover their own abilities to produce melodic tunes will get the chance from July10-23, when a large, interactive stage is installed to allow them to appreciate the wonder of music. A stunning acrobat show with performers specially flown in from Romania will follow next from Aug. 31-July 4.
Dubai's top photojournalists and photographers will then display their best works at a photography exhibition in the center's Jewelry Court on Aug. 12-18.
Lastly, setting the perfect finale to the festivities will be a specially installed stroll-through jungle exhibition featuring animatronic figures of wild animals, lush shrubbery and trailing vines from August 7-22.
Customers who spend AED300 in any of the outlets throughout the festival will be entered into a weekly draw to win AED25,000, and a grand prize of AED500,000.
In its 11th year as a key sponsor of Dubai Summer Surprises, Deira City Center continues to provide a host of fun and wholesome family entertainment and attractive prizes that is sure to appeal to everyone. __
