RIYADH: The charitable society for the care of Saudi families abroad, Awasser, has given a total of more than SR5 million in financial aid to Saudi families stranded outside the country, said Tawfiq Bin Abdulaziz Al-Suwailem, Chairman of the society. He said Awasser allocated SR3.5 million for these families in the first quarter of this year. There are 703 families consisting of 2,012 individuals in 24 Arab and other countries. Most of them are in Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Morocco and Lebanon, while fewer numbers are in the Philippines, Belgium, Indonesia, India, the United States and Canada, he said. He said there have been many problems in trying to locate these families to help them. The society's board of directors and staffers carry out surveys and communicate constantly with the Saudi government and consulates around the world. This is because the number of Saudis in these countries changes all the time.
