TAIF: The case relating to the job levels of more than 200,000 male and female teachers, first raised on Dec. 7, 2007, has once again been referred to King Abdullah. Teachers have sent a cable to the King stressing that their suffering is continuing due to the amendment of their job levels according to Article 18/A, which they said has deprived them of the pay grades they deserve, according to regulations. They added that the adverse impact of the amendment would continue after they retire. In a statement, the Information Committee for Male and Female Teachers of the Kingdom said the cables address their grievances, adding that they include congratulations to King Abdullah for his safe return after treatment abroad. “We trust your justice and fairness in the job ranks case for male and female teachers, which was dealt with partially following your majesty's formation of the ministerial committee,” the cable said. “The committee dealt with the case from the aspect of job ranks only, but it did not approve the job rank the teachers deserve, according to their years of service. In addition, there is need to take into consideration the years female teachers have served under Clause 105 for woman teachers. This has not been taken into account within their years of service.” The Information Committee also said the male and female teachers look forward to ending their case and the end of the financial loss they are incurring relative to their years of service, whether it is due to not approving the deserved grade or not taking into account the years they served under Clause 105. It said the matter can be solved by nullifying the amendment of job ranks according to Article 18/A and carrying out the amendments according to the regulation in order to guarantee the teachers' job rights and achieve their job security and peace of mind.
