SYDNEY: Two men have been charged with attempting to defraud betting agencies in a scandal that has been simmering since police started investigating suspicious gambling on a National Rugby League match between Canterbury and North Queensland last August. The men, both in their late 40s and reported to be a player agent and retired player, were arrested in western Sydney Thursday, the same day Canterbury forward Ryan Tandy pleaded not guilty to charges of giving false evidence to New South Wales state police.
