Jotun Paints lifts YACA Trophy

A discipline knock of 88 runs by Ahmedullah Khattak helped Jotun Paints beat Pak Crescent by five wickets and lift 35-over YACA Trophy 2008 here recently.
Pak Crescent batting first scored 275 for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. Jotun Paints reached 277 for 5 wickets.
Pak Crescent had a nervous start when it lost opener Usman on the very first ball run out on a direct throw from Ahmedullah. Afzal joined Rizwan and the two took the Pak Crescent score to 95. Rizwan (43) was however caught in the cover area by Junaid off the bowling of Ataullah.
Afzal (69) was next to go with the total on 129. Sarfraz soon followed on 35. A couple of wickets fell in quick succession to leave Pak Crescent on 173 runs for 5. It was only through the efforts of Gill (33) and Arif (77) that Pak Crescent managed to put on a respectable total.
Farooq and Tanveer picked up two wickets each for 53 and 39 runs respectively while Ataullah and Liaqat bagged a wicket each for 55 and 47 runs.
Jotun Paints openers Ahmedullah and Liaqat made a cautious start. The scored 86 runs in 12 overs. Liaqat (28) was first to go caught by Abdul Rahman off the bowling of Shakeel. Pak Crescent secured the upper hand with two quick wickets, but brothers Naseem and Ahmedullah scored 54 runs together to lift Jotun to safety.
Ahmedullah was caught and bowled by Afzal for 88 - 13 fours and 2 sixes. Naseem scored 33 runs. Jotun Paints captain Nasrullah Bhatti and Akbar
When Jotun Paints captain Nasrullah Bhatti and Akbar joined hands at 177-5. The two played intelligently for their 100-run match-winning partnership. The team needed 22 runs off 12 balls, but Akbar finished it off in the 34th over bowled by Man of the Series Sarfaraz. The 34th over read: 4, 4, 4, 6, 2, and 2. At the Bhatti had scored 56 runs and Akbar 52.
Shakeel took 2-49 runs while Rizwan, Afzal and Sarfaraz took one wicket each for 43, 59 and 63 runs respectively.
Akbar and Farooq of Jotun Paints were adjudged Man of the Match and Best Bowler respectively. __
