About 200 Bangladeshi cleaning and maintenance workers have gone on strike at Jadeedat Ar'ar border post alleging delay in payment of their salaries. Sulaiman Al-Salama, Director General of Customs Department told Al-Hayat that the workers' demands would be discussed with their company soon so that the flow of work is not disrupted. A striking worker said the employees are suffering due to procrastination by the company in paying their monthly salaries and other arrears. He added that the company has also delayed issuing them their resident permits (Iqamas). Besides this the company is refusing to grant them their annual vacations, the striking employee alleged. The employees decided to stop work till their demands are met. __
