RIYADH: The 6th Keli Football Tournament for Lulu Cup opened here last Friday at Presidency of Youth Welfare Football Stadium, Malaz. Conceived as the premier inter-club event of the South Asian expatriates, the tournament was formatted on a league-cum-knockout basis. In all, eight teams are participating in this tournament which will continue every Friday. The Final will be on April 22. In the inaugural match, Royal Sports routed Star Sports Club 4-0. Earlier Kerala Sports Council Secretary Dr. Mohamed Ashraf inaugurated the event. Tournament Organizing Committee Chairman Dastakir presided over the inaugural function. Convener B.M Razak welcomed the guests. Keli Acting Secretary B.P. Rajeev detailed about the tournament and Keli Organization. Guests recalled the achievements of Keli as a prominent cultural forum among Indian expatriates, in various fields of serving community. This event carries a prize purse of SR25,000, with the champion team set to receive SR10,000. Runner-up will get SR7,000 and SR.8,000 will be divided among other participating teams according to their tournament standings, besides individual prizes for outstanding performers. A bumper prize of TATA Indica car from Safa Makkah Polyclinic, gold necklace from Atlas Jewelers and motor bike from Paragon group are other major attractions of the event. __
