JEDDAH: There is an urgent need for the authorities to repair the pot-holed, flood-damaged roads of Briman District, east of the city. Most residents are now using Al-Samer and Al-Rabea roads to reach their homes. A Saudi Gazette tour Thursday found that clay still covers several roads inside and outside the district, even though it is now one month after the heavy rain. An angry resident told Saudi Gazette that almost all the roads?have pot-holes which damage the cars of residents. Some expatriate workers were seen either fixing their cars or trying to tow them to the nearest workshops at Sultan Bin Salman Street. The Jeddah mayoralty said in an official statement after the flood that the city needs a budget of SR100 million to fix the city's roads. The mayoralty also blamed contractors for not constructing the roads properly and the increasing level of underground water.
