NYON, Switzerland: UEFA has banned AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso for four matches after he headbutted a Tottenham coach at a Champions League match. UEFA says Gattuso assaulted Tottenham assistant coach Joe Jordan after the final whistle in Milan. Gattuso earlier grabbed at Jordan's throat in a separate sideline clash during the round-of-16 first-leg match last Tuesday. Tottenham won 1-0. UEFA charged Gattuso with “gross unsporting conduct” and its disciplinary panel imposed the ban on top of a one-match suspension for receiving yellow cards which already ruled him out of the March 9 return in London. Gattuso, who captained Milan, must serve the ban in UEFA's Champions League or Europa League competitions. He can appeal within three days. Montella Roma coach Troubled AS Roma appointed Vincenzo Montella as coach until the end of the season Monday after Claudio Ranieri quit following the club's fourth successive defeat Sunday night. His first match in charge will be Wednesday's league game at Bologna which was abandoned because of snow last month. Ranieri resigned following fan protests and after eighth-placed Roma went down 4-3 at Genoa having been 3-0 up in its Serie A match. It also lost 3-2 at home in a Champions League first leg to last 16 debutants Shakhtar Donetsk last week. Barca five clear Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Sunday to move five points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the standings in the Spanish league. David Villa gave Barcelona the lead in the fourth minute after Dani Alves tapped back a long pass from Xavi Hernandez for the Spain striker to volley home. Bilbao's Andoni Iraola equalized in the 50th from the penalty spot after Sergio Busquets had fouled Fernando Llorente in the area. Xavi and Alves linked up again for the Brazil right back to assist Lionel Messi inside the six-yard box for Barcelona's 78th-minute winner.
