RIYADH: The Cabinet was briefed Monday on the telephone call made by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to King Abdullah II of Jordan, in which the former reaffirmed the Kingdom's support to the Jordanian king, government and people for “all that is in their interest and their security, safety and prosperity”. Chairing the weekly session, Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, briefed ministers on regional, Arab and international developments and reiterated the support voiced in the GCC Ministerial Council in its 30th extraordinary session in Manama for the “firm stand of GCC countries with Bahrain against any threat facing any member”. “The security and stability of each GCC country is inseparable, as is stipulated in the joint defense and security treaties,” the Crown Prince said. “The Kingdom stands with the Bahraini state and its brotherly people.” Abdul Aziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency following the meeting that the Cabinet has been following developments in Arab and Islamic countries and that it stressed the importance of “wisdom in handling developments in such a way to ensure the safety and stability of those countries and the welfare of their people”. Khoja said the Cabinet also expressed the Kingdom's regret over the US veto of the Arab and Palestinian draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council condemning Israeli settlements. The Cabinet warned that the move would encourage Israel to proceed with its settlement policy and avoid legitimate international resolutions. In domestic business, the Cabinet reviewed the various scientific and cultural activities of different ministries, which it said “reflect the will of the judicious leadership to carry out developmental and industrial projects in different parts of the Kingdom to the benefit of the Kingdom's people”. Ministers also approved a series of recommendations and appointments.
