RIYADH: The Directorate General of Health Affairs in Riyadh Region has issued a decision to temporarily close two hospitals after they violated regulations relating to equipment and professional staff. The decision to close the hospitals was made after inspection tours revealed violations, said Dr. Nasser Al-Zeid, Secretary General of the Health Violations Committee of the Directorate of Health Affairs in the region. One hospital had not obtained a final license for operation and employed medical staff that were not licensed to work, Al-Zeid said. In the second facility, there was a shortage of equipment in a number of departments, he added. Al-Zeid said the violations were referred to the Health Institutions Violations Committee in the directorate, which decided to close the hospitals until they rectify the problems. He stressed that the Directorate of Health Affairs will not be lenient with any health facility that is not implementing health regulations and directives.
