Smoking Charity Organization of Eastern Province, Purity, has launched its latest campaign which inspires smokers to quit their habit within 30 minutes. Saleh Al-Abbad, Director of the organization, said a fast, painless, easy, non-invasive cold laser device is used to help smokers quit cigarette within half-an-hour. Benefiting from the campaign, smokers can prevent diseases like cancer, asthma, heart attacks, diabetes, etc., Al-Abbad said. He said that the new treatment, along with counseling, is getting a great response from the public and many people are now motivated to quit smoking. “Our clinic in Eastern Province is now receiving a good number of people everyday after we posted advertisements in various parts of the region and we are very hopeful that thousands would quit their habit soon,” he said. The clinic runs from 4 P.M. to 9 P.M. every day and a single session, which is the only one needed, would cost SR600. The laser device, which works by activating the energy points of body on ears, knees, ankles and hands, helps produce the body's ‘'feel good'' chemicals – endorphins, which is generally produced by nicotine found in the cigarettes. Welcoming the decision of the General Security authorities to ban police officers from smoking while on duty and inside official vehicles, Al-Abbad said that his organization is holding an awareness program for Dammam police Monday. “As part of our anti-smoking drive, Purity Organization is holding an awareness program for Dammam Police and we are conducting another week-long program for a firm in Jubail next Saturday,” he added.
