ROME: Kuwait has an excellent record in fighting poverty worldwide and the country had played an important role in establishing the International Fund for Agricultural Development's (IFAD), its President Kanayo F. Nwanze said Friday. He said the Gulf state, via Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), played an integral role in forming the fund which was established in 1977. "Kuwait should be proud of what IFAD had achieved in its 35 years since its inception especially through the increase of food commodities that helped millions of people," he noted. Kuwait had increased its contribution to IFAD by $12 million, making a total contribution of $188 million, he added. He affirmed that the launch of the Kuwait Hall at IFAD had reflected the strong relations linking the Fund and Kuwait.
