MALHAO, Portugal: Alberto Contador has put himself in position to win his third straight Tour of the Algarve cycling race after finishing Friday's third stage in third place. Stephen Cummings of Team Sky won the mountainous 179.2-km leg in 4 hours, 56 minutes, 19 seconds – the same time as Contador and second-place finisher Tejay Van Garderen of HTC-Highroad. The Tour de France champion moved into second in the overall standings, six seconds behind Cummings. Contador is racing for the first time since escaping a doping ban.
