JEDDAH: Carry Packers Cricket Club knocked out Young Fighters Club in the first semifinal of the first Jeddah Knockout Cricket Tournament here. A total of 8 teams have taken part in this tape ball cricket tournament during the last few weeks. The Young Fighters Club elected to bat first but its decision proved wrong. Carry Packers fast bowlers, especially Sami and Abdul Waheed, kept a tight line and length. Sami sent three batsmen back to the pavilion while Abdul Waheed bowled out two. The Young Fighters openers, Waqas and Irfan, resisted fairly well against the sensational bowling. Waqas made 21 runs, and Irfan was out on 19. Ali also tried to stablize his team's position but he was bowled out on 15. The remaining batsmen struggled and Young Fighters managed to make a total of 115-6 in the allotted 12 overs. The match was reduced from 15 overs to 12 because of late arrivals of the teams at the ground. In reply, Carry Packers Cricket Club openers started well. Abdul Waheed and Qaiser thrashed the bowlers of Young Fighters all round the ground with sixes and boundaries. Bowlers of Young Fighters Club seemed helpless against the attacking batting of Abdul Waheed who could not complete a fifty as he was out for 48. Qaiser made a briiliant 33. Carry Packers finally achieved hit the target for the loss of only two wickets. The second semifinal will be played between Goodies Intenational Team and Kamran Cricket Club. __
