Commercial lost wickets at regular intervals but Asif (30) kept the scoreboard ticking at one end hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported Akbar 16 to enable Commercial tally 124 runs. P&IP bowlers Najaf (4-17), Fazlu (2-23) and one wicket each by Irfan, Martin and Liyakat bowled well. In reply, P&IP hit the target in just 8 overs without losing any wicket. Freight sinks Maersk Lions
Freight won by 8 wickets against the new entrant Maersk Lions. Maersk Lions started badly by losing 3 wickets in quick succession. However, veteran Ashfaque 17 and Ikram 17 steadied their boat. They were supported by skipper Asad Khan who made a quickfire 23 before being bundled out for 96 runs in 15 overs. They failed to tackle the pacy attack of Freight bowlers Hameen (4-17) and Jayasuriya (2-24). In response, Freight's Hameen (32) was well supported by Fazal (39 not out, 4 fours and 2 sixes). Maersk Lions bowlers toiled hard to get the wickets but the only successful bowler was Ashfaque who picked 2-17. Man of the Match: Hameen of Freight.
Second week matches
Finance nudges Freight
Finance blitzed the bowling attack of Freight. Veteran A. A. Merchant 28 (4 fours) and Rafiq 28 (4 fours) scored at a brisk rate. After their departure teenager Saadique Merchant with an unbeaten 32 (1 four and 2 sixes) and Indika (27 not out, 3 fours and 1 six) smashed the Freight attack all around to set up an intimidating target of 151-3 in 15 overs. Freight bowlers Hameen, Jayasuriya and Rayis got one wicket each. In reply, Freight started its innings in blazing style as openers Oliver 31 retired hurt (2 fours) and Hameen (29) put an opening stand of 62 runs. The in-form Fazal (27 not out, 3 fours) played responsibly but didn't get much support as Finance bowlers tightened the screws to restrict them to 129-3 in 15 overs. Finance won by 22 runs with Nasir picking up 2-30. Man of the Match: Saadique Merchant of Finance.
